Serie B at full 'X': Modena back on top, Samp remains last

The midweek round valid for the sixth day of Serie B closes with four draws out of as many matches: white-net draws between Carrarese and Modena and between Sampdoria and Catanzaro, while Empoli-Monza and Pescara-Sudtirol end 1-1.
At the Stadio dei Marmi in Carrara, the Canarini do not go beyond a draw with the Tuscans, who have the best chances of the match – one per time – with Finotto but in both cases Chichizola overcomes himself. A point that still allows Modena to return to the top of the standings, paired with Frosinone on 14 points, while Carrarese rises to 7 in 11th place.
The Blucerchiati, still running out of victories in the league, cannot get unstuck: at the ‘Ferraris’ in Genoa, it ends 0-0 against the Giallorossi, who rise to 6 points in the standings, in 12th place. Samp, on the other hand, remains the tail end with 2 points.
At ‘Castellani’ in Empoli, it all happened in the second half: the “biancorossi” went ahead with a perfect header by Andrea Carboni at 49′ but were retaken by the Azzurri at 79′ with Guarino who beat Thiam with a header. In the standings, Monza moves to 8 points, just outside the playoff zone, while Empoli is 12th with 6 points.
Finally, at the”Adriatico-Cornacchia’ in Pescara, the Biancorossi see the three points slip away at the’last gasp: having taken the lead with Coulibaly midway through the second half, they suffer Meazzi′ s equalizing goal at 95′. Sudtirol climbs to 9 points, in seventh place, while Pescara rises to 5, in the play-out zone.
