Sarri-Fares, idyll never started: new team for the Algerian

Mohamed Fares says goodbye to Lazio for good and starts again in the United Arab Emirates. The Algerian outfielder, born in 1996, has signed with Gulf Heroes FC, a club based in Abu Dhabi and owned by one of the country’s most influential sheikhs.
Remoted to the sidelines of Maurizio Sarri’s technical project and never really reintegrated into the squad, Fares was still linked to the Biancocelesti by a contract valid until June 30, 2026. The transfer, which took place outright, thus closes a chapter that began in 2020 but never got off the ground due to injuries and technical choices.
During the summer, the player received offers from Russia and Turkey, all of which were rejected before accepting the offer coming from the Gulf.
Grown up in France, Fares has collected several experiences in Italian soccer: he wore the shirts of Verona, SPAL, Genoa, Torino and Brescia before his adventure in biancoceleste. Now a new challenge, in a less competitive but economically solid league, where he will try to relaunch his career.
