Ferrari, it’s raining wet: penalized Lewis Hamilton

The Singapore Grand Prix weekend could not have ended worse for Ferrari: Lewis Hamilton, seventh across the line behind teammate Charles Leclerc, was penalized five seconds, relegating him to eighth place behind Fernando Alonso’s Aston Martin.
The penalty was imposed on him by race officials because the Briton “left the track several times without justified reason” while he was struggling with a major problem with his car’s brakes in the closing stages of the race.
Basically, Hamilton had managed to finish ahead of Alonso by only 416 thousandths, after squandering a lead of nearly half a minute for that braking system problem, but he did so by cutting corners and thus, with the penalty, lost his position to his eternal Spanish rival.
