Monaco toward turnaround, Terzic in pole

The 2-2 home draw against Nice, which came at the end of a painful game, may have been the last chapter of Adi Hütter’s management on the Monaco bench. Despite the smile shown at the end of the match, the Austrian coach was probably aware of the maneuvers going on behind the scenes. Indeed, the management of the Principality’s club, concerned by a growing disconnect between the coach and the locker room and disappointed with the team’s recent performance, had reportedly decided to turn over a new leaf.
The last few weeks have been particularly complicated for Monaco, with mixed results and signs of internal tension. The 3-1 defeat against Lorient last Sept. 27, followed by the draw against Nice, highlighted a’setback both in terms of play and in the mental aspect. Although the club renewed Hütter’s contract until 2027 in January, it now seems to be moving toward a change in technical leadership.
Among the most credited names for the succession is that of Edin Terzic. The German-Croatian coach, 42, has achieved significant results at the helm of Borussia Dortmund, taking them all the way to the Champions League final in the spring of 2024, including eliminating PSG in the semifinals, and clinching second place in the Bundesliga the previous year. Terzic would have several supporters within the club and would represent a profile capable of combining international experience and a focus on youth development, two aspects considered crucial to Monaco’s future.
At the same time, the management would also explore other options, maintaining an open but firm approach in wanting to turn the season around.
