The volleyball world mourns Piera Negro. She was 46 years old

At just 46 years old, Piera Negro, coach of Pallavolo Azzurra Alessano, who had always been at the side of the youngest and deeply connected to the entire volleyball movement in Salento and Puglia, passed away. Fipav Lecce announced the news.

“I had the opportunity to appreciate Piera as an athlete, educator, coach and as a woman. Always dedicated to her family, in love with her sons Francesco and Gabriele and her husband Daniele. A lifetime of passion for sports and the values they conveyed, which Piera fully embodied and has now entrusted to her little ones,” the words of President Pierandrea Piccinni.

“President Pierandrea Piccinni, the Territorial Council and the whole Salento volleyball team closes with deep affection to the family, to her husband Daniele, to her sons Francesco and Gabriele and to Pallavolo Azzurra Alessano for the painful loss – the note issued on the day reads -. The memory of Piera, an example of passion, availability and dedication, always present in the gym and close to the young people of our volleyball, will remain in everyone’s hearts. Deepest condolences to her family, a big hug to her little ones. The Territorial Committee’s commitment will be to find the right way to remember her over time, keeping her presence alive on the courts, in the gyms and next to the little athletes she loved so much to follow.”
