Red Bull is launching “I’m Coming Home,” a series starring three Italian winter sports legends: Sofia Goggia, Dominik Paris and Dorothea Wierer. The first to tell her story is the Olympic downhill champion at Pyeongchang 2018 and winner of four World Cups, also in downhill.

Here are the words of the outclasswoman from Bergamo, who will be 33 years old on November 15: “The ambition to be a winning athlete, always at the top, had led me to take care of all the details of sports performance, but basically I had forgotten about Sofia, the girl, the young woman I was even before I was an athlete”.

There was a moment, following her tibia and malleolus injury in 2024, when Sofia feared she would never be able to return to competition: “I thought my career was over. But then I realized that in order to recover you have to get back under it, with a lot of effort and a lot of hard work. And perhaps the heaviest part was not the physical part, but the emotional part, having to resolve my inner grievances”.

Here came a new realization on Goggia’s part, and that is that you also need to “win in life” that “it’s not always a race at the gate. Doing things only for oneself is a small ambition, the beauty is in sharing emotions with others. Every time I stand on the podium and wave the Italian flag, I remind myself where I come from and what I stand for.”
