Coco Gauff is the new queen of the Wuhan WTA 1000. After overcoming Jasmine Paolini in the semifinals, the world number three repeated in the final with compatriot Jessica Pegula, number 6 in the seeding and ranking, defeated in two sets (6-4 7-5) after an hour and 42 minutes of play.

Gauff rocketed off to a 3-0 lead in a flash. Pegula doesn&#8217t go for it and recovers the break disadvantage in the seventh game, tying at 4-4 but a new stretch by the third seed is decisive and earns her the first partial (6-4).

The second set has a strong start.

The second set has a completely opposite trend: Pegula goes up 3-0 with a double break lead but suffers a comeback by Gauff (3-3). Pegula again goes ahead by a break (5-3) but Coco threads a partial four-game run (7-5) with which she files the case.

For Gauff this is her second title of the season after her triumph at Roland Garros, the third 1000 title in her career after her successes at the Beijing WTA 1000 in 2024 and the Cincinnati WTA in 2023.
