A few days before the trip to Texas for the U.S. Grand Prix, Frederic Vasseur analyzed with ‘The Athletic’ the difficult situation of Lewis Hamilton, who with the eighth place in Singapore equaled the unenviable record of Didier Pironi: eighteen Grand Prix without reaching the podium since the beginning of his adventure in red.

The French engineer, team principal of the Cavallino in Formula 1, however, urges everyone to calm down. “Lewis arrived with enormous motivation but also with great expectations. In French we say ‘tout neuf’ everything new, everything beautiful. However, there are aspects where Mercedes does better and others where we do better, it is normal he had to experience a period of adaptation”.

“Lewis is growing within the structure of the team and the team is growing within the ‘structure’ of Lewis– added Vasseur. Now we have to make a kind of ‘mayonnaise’ we have to improve step by step. I know I can trust him, and he knows he can trust me, and that is crucial. He knows that we all work to improve team performance”.

Joining Ferrari after turning 40 but with every intention of proving he is not in the waning stage of his career, Lewis Hamilton has so far experienced an opaque season, with the only highlight being success in the Sprint in China. His best result in a Sunday Gp is fourth place, achieved at Imola, Spielberg and in ‘his’Silverstone.
