Italbasket, Luca Banchi announces his first call-ups as coach.

Fifteen summoned, plus five others possibly available, for the mini-meeting scheduled in Rome Oct. 20-22. Italbasket’s new head coach, Luca Banchi, will begin his adventure at the helm of Italbasket with them, just over a month before the first official appointment, the start of the 2027 World Cup qualifiers on Nov. 27. The list is made up mostly of young players, not involved in early or late games with their clubs or in European cups.

Banchi will be joined by confirmed team manager Gigi Datome and assistant coaches Adriano Vertemati and Iacopo Squarcina. Homecoming is set for noon on Monday, Oct. 20, with first practice at the Palasport in Viale Tiziano from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 21, double two-hour session at 10 a.m. and 5 p.m., Wednesday scrimmage against Sebastiani Rieti at 12:30 p.m., before the dismissal.
