A significant obstacle looms for AC Milan in the race for Robert Lewandowski. The Polish striker, who will not renew his contract with Barcelona, will leave the club on a zero-parameter basis in the summer of 2026. At 37, the end of his Camp Nou adventure is approaching for him.

At the moment, Atletico Madrid seems to be in pole position to secure him. Having arrived in Barcelona to lead the offensive department, Lewandowski has seen his weight within the team gradually diminish. A farewell now appears imminent and the bomber would be very tempted to land in the Iberian capital.

His record in the blaugrana jersey remains remarkable, however: more than 100 official goals and a Pichichi Trophy won in La Liga. With the expiration of his contract just around the corner, even the automatic renewal clause until 2027 has gone on the back burner. The farewell is expected to be by mutual consent.

Atletico has already expressed a concrete interest in the former Bayern man, with a plan similar to the one that brought Luis Suarez to Madrid: no price tag, but a big name with experience and flair for goal.

That coup was decisive for the Colchoneros to win the championship, and today the management dreams of replicating the success with Lewandowski. What’s more, his acclimatization in the red and white would not be a problem, since he already knows La Liga perfectly well.
