Milan-Fiorentina: Leao seeks redemption against his former coach

Leao joined Milan in the summer of 2019. In October of that year, the Rossoneri club turned to Pioli (who took over from Giampaolo). In fact, the current Fiorentina coach (he did not have the best start to his new adventure in the purple) was the one who forged the Portuguese. Together, they won the 2020/21 Scudetto and now they will meet again, as opponents, on Sunday night at the San Siro.
The Portuguese, who has been in the pits for a long time due to an injury suffered in the Coppa Italia match with Bari, will surely be on the field against his former coach’s Viola. Given the heavy absences of Rabiot and Pulisic, it will be up to the Portuguese to try to make a difference in attack.
Allegri is convinced that Leao can perform at his best in the position of central striker and, barring unforeseen circumstances, will use him again in that position, despite having struggled in’his last outing with Juventus.
It will be up to the Portuguese to prove that he can become the Diavolo’s key striker. He will have to do so against his former coach’s Fiorentina. There has always been a lot of esteem between the two but, in this case, only the verdict of the field will count. Leao wants to get unblocked in the league (still at zero goals) and do it in the unusual role of central striker that his current coach Allegri likes so much.
