The Mandalika accident with Marco Bezzecchi ended Marc Marquez’s season early. The news was in the air after the Catalan rider&#8217s shoulder surgery, and it was Ducati itself that made it official: the nine-time world champion will not return to the track until 2026.

Marquez, who had undergone surgery on his scapula last Oct. 13 after a coracoid fracture, will not be able to get in in time for the last round of the MotoGP World Championship in Valencia on Nov. 16, and for the subsequent tests scheduled at the same Iberian circuit in the following days.

Marquez’s replacement is expected to be Superbike rider Nicolò Bulega: “The medical team has confirmed that the clinical evolution of the injury is proceeding normally, but Marc Marquez will not participate in the Portuguese and Valencia GPs and the test day in Cheste”, Ducati wrote.

“Marquez will have to spend four weeks with his arm completely immobilized before starting rehabilitation, so it is impossible to think about his return to competition this year. We believe the most appropriate, intelligent and consistent course of action is to respect the biological timing of the injury”.
