Roma thud in Europa League: Viktoria Plzen sweeps the Olimpico

An evening to forget for Roma in the Europa League. At the Stadio Olimpico, the Giallorossi fell sensationally against Viktoria Plzen, who won by a narrow margin (2-1): Adu and Souare gave the Czechs the feat, Dybala’s penalty did not help Gian Piero Gasperini’s men avoid defeat.
It’s a terrible one-two by the visitors that froze the Olimpico: on 20′ Adu gets away from Ziolkowski on the left and beats Svliar with an underhand touch; two minutes later Souare signed the double for Viktoria with a left-footed shot from distance. Roma tried to retaliate with Wesley but Jedlicka was ready.
.
In the second half, Pisilli took over for a slumped Koné: it was the newly joined midfielder who earned a penalty kick, converted by Dybala at 54′. The Giallorossi continued to press in search of an equalizer, but El Shaarawy′ s right-footed shot hissed off the post at 63′. Gasp launched Ferguson and Bailey and it was the latter who came close to equalizing but his left-footed shot went near the post. As time expired, Pisilli makes it 2-2 but the goal is disallowed for offside.

With this defeat Roma remains stuck on 3 points, currently in 23rd place in the Europa League single group standings. On the next day, the Giallorossi will face Rangers away on Thursday, Nov. 6.
