Jannik Sinner, service is no longer a problem: champion explains improvements

Although universally acknowledged as an ace and having commanded the ATP rankings for more than a year (leadership surrendered to’s only major rival these days, Carlos Alcaraz), Jannik Sinner has repeatedly admitted to some difficulties with his serve, an aspect of his game that, however, as demonstrated at the Six Kings Slam first and then at the Vienna tournament, seems to no longer be a problem.
After his quarterfinal success against Alexander Bublik, a match in which Sinner finished without double faults and with 93 percent of points won on his first serve, the South Tyrolean explained that the improvement is certainly not the result of chance: “I have been practicing a lot – he said -, we have been trying to change something when loading”.
“In general, I feel much more comfortable – added Sinner -, I am aware that I had very good percentages and I can only be happy with today’s test. On the other side there’was a very difficult opponent like Bublik, a tennis player of the highest level who brings you to give your best: against him you need solidity, today I played a good game from this point of view”.
Even in matches played in the past few days, Jannik Sinner showed great solidity as far as his serve is concerned: only one double fault against Cobolli, zero against Altmaier, and in the last two matches of the Six Kings Slam, against Djokovic and Alcaraz. The four total double faults and 69 percent points won on the first serve against Murciano in the US Open final seem to be a distant memory.
