Carlo Ricchetti died, he was 55 years old

At age 55, Carlo Ricchetti has died. An elusive winger, the’former soccer player had made a name for himself wherever he played. A nasty illness won him over.

A native of Foggia, Ricchetti made his debut right at the Rossoneri club, celebrating the ‘Satanelli’s historic return to Serie B in the 1988/89 season. He then made stops at Monopoli, Nola and Monza, before landing at Salerno, where he had his most significant experience (140 appearances and 24 goals).

In the Campania capital he stayed for six seasons, four of them with Delio Rossi as coach, and also managed to win promotion to Serie A. After wearing the jerseys of Cesena and Juve Stabia, in the 2000/01 season he returned to Foggia in Serie C2.

Nardò, Potenza and Angri the last teams in which Ricchetti played before hanging up his boots and embarking on a coaching career.

The ownership, management, coach, players and the entire staff of U.S. Salernitana 1919 mourn the untimely death of Carlo Ricchetti and share in the immense grief of his wife Antonella, his children, his entire family and the many teammates with the horse on their chests in the 157 games played between 1993 and 1998.

“A mild-mannered, good-natured and reserved man off the field and a champion on the pitch, Ricchetti also scored 25 goals in the Salernitana jersey, earning promotion to Serie B in 1994 and to Serie A in 1998, both as a star player. He also had coaching experience in the youth sector in the 2005/06 season. He continued his coaching career on the staffs of his former teammates at Salernitana, Roberto Breda and Mirko Cudini.
