A.C. Milan president Gerry Cardinale during his interview on the podcast ‘The Varsity’ made some phrases that angered fans, particularly from Lecce and Cagliari. Speaking about the need to grow Serie A economically, Cardinale explained how important promotion abroad is.

“Serie A is the most competitive league, but we don&#8217t get paid for it. The Premier League has almost four times the TV revenue of the other European leagues, and that is a problem. We cannot get meaningful international rights deals because distributors only want “the best”. In the United States, for example, no one wants to see Cagliari versus Lecce and that is a problem” is the phrase that raised a fuss on social media.

“Competition is the’essence of sport, but it is not rewarded economically”, continued Cardinale, whose exit will surely cause discussion.
