Lorenzo Sonego remounted and eliminated by Daniil Medvedev

Lorenzo Sonego struggles, he tries until the last point, but it’s not enough: the Turin-born player stops in the round of 16 at the Rolex Paris Masters, the last Masters 1000 of the season, being held for the first time on the fast indoor track of La Défense Arena.
The 30-year-old Piedmontese, No. 45 in the rankings and never made it this far in the Paris tournament, surrendered after a battle of nearly two hours and forty-five minutes to Daniil Medvedev, No. 13 ATP and 11th seed, with a score of 3-6 7-6(5) 6-4.
Medvedev, already a champion here in 2020 and a finalist in 2021, thus breaks a three-year winless fast in Paris.
Sonego can still come out with his head held high: 41 winners and 33 unforced errors tell the quality of his performance, although the Russian closed with slightly better numbers (36 winners and 28 free) and that cynicism that makes the difference in the decisive points.
