“Together with you… Thank you”. With these words, accompanying two photos showing him in his hospital room where an Italian flag and a poster with many messages of encouragement written on it stand, Lorenzo Bonicelli wanted to greet everyone on Instagram, three months after his serious accident during a ring exercise at the Universiade in Essen.

Bonicelli, 23, is hospitalized at Niguarda Hospital in Milan, in the Niguarda Unipolar Spinal Unit, where he is facing the difficult path of rehabilitation after what happened in Germany. Since then, news regarding the Lecco-based athlete who is a member of Ghislanzoni GAL came directly from Federginnastica: today, however, the nice surprise and moving greeting came from ‘Bonni’ himself.

Tons of comments on the sidelines of the post: from Giorgia Villa to Carlo Macchini, via Alice D’Amato and fellow Canadian Felix Dolci, all wanted to express their happiness with the surprise post published on Friday. The posted photos depict Bonicelli smiling and joking, accompanied by the numerous dedications.

After the accident, Lorenzo Bonicelli had returned to Italy last August 7 to embark on the course of treatment thanks to the work of specialists at Niguarda. The transfer from Germany to Milan had taken place by air ambulance: one of the objectives, in fact, was also to guarantee him a course of treatment as close as possible to his family, originally from Abbadia Lariana.
