Genoa market: upheaval on the bench, Vieira leaves immediately. New coach already chosen
Another exoneration coming in Serie A, following Igor Tudor’s farewell to Juventus in recent days: Genoa has decided to torpedo Patrick Vieira after a difficult start to the season and last place in the standings. There was talk of a last resort for the French coach in the match against Sassuolo scheduled for Monday, but after a night of reflection the Grifone management decided to take immediate action to turn the situation around. The Rossoblù market men are finalizing the details for Vieira’s immediate separation, and in the meantime they have chosen a replacement: leading Genoa against Sassuolo will be Domenico Criscito, a former Grifone player and captain and current coach of the Ligurian club’s Under-17 team.
Criscito will be a ferryman ahead of the next coach: the names of Daniele De Rossi, Paolo Vanoli and Luca Gotti are already being mentioned. Vieira arrived at Genoa in 2024: last season he led the Grifone to safety. This year the zero wins in nine league games have doomed him.
