Inter, Cristian Chivu chooses the path of caution with Marcus Thuram

Although he returned to training with the group this week after the injury he picked up in late September in the Champions League, Marcus Thuram will not be part of Inter’s squad list for Sunday&#8217s 12:30 p.m. match at home to Hellas Verona. In fact, Cristian Chivu has opted for the cautious route, preferring that the Frenchman return to 100 percent before returning to play.

Next to Lautaro Martinez, therefore, should be Ange-Yoan Bonny, with Pio Esposito the first alternative. For Thuram, therefore, the return date slips, which could take place in the Champions League on Wednesday against Kairat at the San Siro or directly on Sunday 9 in the league, again at the Meazza, against Lazio in the match valid for the eleventh round.

The team will be in the Champions League.

Without Thuram, Inter still found important goals from Bonny, who was decisive against Roma, and Esposito, who scored his first European goal in the clear 4-0 win away to Union Saint-Gilloise, as well as, of course, Lautaro Martinez, although the Argentine has not scored in the league since the Oct. 4 match against Cremonese.

Curiously, Inter’s top scorer in the league is not a striker: in fact, the one who scored the most goals was Hakan Calhanoglu, who scored five times in the first nine games, also taking advantage of the fact that he was the designated penalty taker. The Turk is also the top scorer in the entire Serie A, along with Riccardo Orsolini of Bologna.
