The last twenty-four hours at the WTA Finals have not brought any satisfaction to Jasmine Paolini: first the defeat in two sets against Aryna Sabalenka on Sunday, then the koing in the doubles together with Sara Errani, against Hsieh Su-wei and Jelena Ostapenko, impose an imposing reaction if the Azzurra wants to continue her adventure in Riyadh.

On the sidelines of the competitions played at the King Saud University Indoor Arena, however, the champion Azzurra made no dramas and, indeed, revived her ambitions. “It is important to remain optimistic – Paolini told Sky Sports -I think the worst is over, I am committed to three more matches and hope to get a little more”.

As for doubles, the final match of the round, against Veronika Kudermetova and Elise Mertens, will be decisive. “It is a pity about the match against Hsieh and Ostapenko – explained the athlete from Bagni di Lucca -They are two girls whose game always bothers us, especially on this kind of surface. Now I have to think about the singles match, I hope it goes better”.

Jasmine Paolini will face U.S. Coco Gauff on Tuesday in the second day of the group stage of the WTA Finals. The American is also seeking redemption after losing her opening match to compatriot Jessica Pegula: whoever wins can still hope for passage to the round, whoever loses is virtually out of the running.
