Sixth consecutive useful result and second home win for Lazio, which in the final match of the tenth day of the Serie A championship beats Cagliari 2-0, thus moving closer to the Europa zone. They still remain dry for the islanders, who have not won since Sept. 19 (2-1 at Lecce) and in their last six matches have picked up just two points.

After a good start by Cagliari, with Folorunsho at 15′ and Esposito at 20′ who did not frame the opponent’s goal, Lazio took the measures against the evening’s opponents and grew by the minute, even wasting a couple of excellent chances that happened on the feet of Basic (high ball at 28′ from a good position), Zaccagni (ball just out at 29′) and Marusic (great intervention by Caprile at 31′).

Before the start of the second half Sarri has to give up Alessio Romagnoli, stopped by a muscle problem (Provstgaard is in his place). The pace in the second half seemed to drop but at 66′ came the turning point: Guendouzi served Isaksen, the Dane skipped past a couple of opponents and finished impeccably for Caprile, for the goal that allowed the hosts to take the lead.

Cagliari, which minutes before the goal had replaced Felici with Gaetano, made the other changes between 69′ and 80’80’ with Luvumbo, Kilicsoy, Idrissi and Pavoletti replacing Esposito, Borrelli, Palestra and Folorunsho. For Lazio, after the pre-goal changes (in addition to Provstgaard, there’s also Vecino from 62′ for Basic) they change only one other element at 73′, Lazzari, replaced by Pellegrini.

In the recovery comes the goal that finally closes the accounts: it is scored, at 91′, by Mattia Zaccagni, who takes advantage of a prati mistake to recover the ball and hurl it into the opponent’s goal. So it ends 2-0, with Lazio moving up to eighth place with 15 points, in cohabitation with Udinese, and Cagliari instead remaining in 14th position, along with Lecce, with three points ahead of the third-last place occupied by Pisa and Genoa.
