Beating Olimpia Milano 98-82 at the A2A PalaLeonessa in the gala played Wednesday, Pallacanestro Brescia secured its hook-up at the top of the standings with 10 points, the same as Virtus Bologna. A hooking, which, however, is not quite succeeding for the meneghini (who remain at 8).

Olimpia head coach Ettore Messina tried to explain the reasons for a bad night for his team.

“They played better, they commanded the whole game, they had heart and determination so kudos to Brescia – said Messina, bluntly, on the sidelines of the match -We started with little mental energy, the first half left a lot to be desired in terms of determination, competitive nastiness”.

“In the second half we were better, we came together, defensively we did something more and Brooks led us on offense – added the coach of the Red Shoes -. Unfortunately, in the final part of the game some offensive rebounds that caught us over the head precluded us from a chance to come back. With LeDay not yet ready, we were on the court small and this we paid for it”.

“When we went big with Diop they speculated by keeping Bilan in the middle of the area, so there was no alternative to going small but we suffered it in rebounding” then concluded Messina commenting on the second knockout in the league this year, after the one on the first day, in that case at the Forum di Assago, against Tortona.
