Juventus market, Old Lady asks for discount

The worst seems to be over, but Dusan Vlahovic at Juventus always seemed to be on a roller coaster: from player on the fringes to rediscovered protagonist. After a complicated period under Thiago Motta and Igor Tudor, the Serbian center forward has looked like someone else, first in the Massimo Brambilla-tagged mini-parenthesis and then with Luciano Spalletti.

With his contract expiring in 2026, Vlahovic will be free to sign with another club as early as Feb. 1. Juve, which has to keep its accounts under control, can no longer afford 10-12 million a year salaries, also for locker room balances. That is why it has in mind a renewal proposal of 8 million a season, well below the current demands of the player, who is aiming for a top salary and a substantial signing bonus.

The competition is strong, concrete, and moneyed, especially in the Premier League: Tottenham, Newcastle, and Manchester United have already shown interest, and Simeone’s Atletico Madrid is also following the situation closely, as is Barcelona’s parting ways with Robert Lewandowski. Retaining the Slav (whom Massimiliano Allegri would also like to return to coach at AC Milan) will not be easy, but Juventus has not given up hope yet.

On the sidelines of the challenge against Sporting, Giorgio Chiellini, now in charge of the club’s sports strategy, clarified to the microphones of Sky Sport that Vlahovic’s future is still open: “For us he is and remains a Juventus player. Evaluations will come, but without haste. The doors remain open on both sides”. It remains to be seen whether it will be enough to convince the number 9 to stay in Turin.
