Reggio Emilia announces a reinforcement under the boards

Bust under the boards for UNA Hotels Reggio Emilia. The red-and-white club, in fact, announced the’signing of Jokhow Panom Thor, known as JT, a 208-centimeter athlete, born in Omaha (Nebraska, USA) on Aug. 26, 2002, who holds dual citizenship in the United States and South Sudan, his parents’ country of origin. Thor will reinforce the long division at the disposal of coach Dimitris Priftis, who also has to cope with the absence of Kwan Cheatham at this time.
After a year at Auburn University, Thor declared himself eligible for the 2021 NBA Draft, where he was selected with the 37th pick by the Detroit Pistons, who then traded his rights to the Charlotte Hornets, a team in which he played until 2024.
Last season he wore the jerseys of the Cleveland Cavaliers and Washington Wizards, alternating between the NBA and G-League. In his career he collected 185 appearances in the American top league, averaging 12.2 minutes per game and a career-high of 14 points, scored in March 2023 against the Oklahoma City Thunder. With South Sudan’s jersey, he took part in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, finishing the group stage with 6.7 points and 4.7 rebounds average in three games played.
“JT Thor is an athletic, vertical player with great leg quickness – commented coach Dimitris Priftis -He is a good defender, able to go for rebounds and protect the iron. On offense he brings versatility and the ability to shoot from the arc, adding elements that we have been lacking. JT comes after several seasons in the NBA: this will be his first overseas experience and, as is natural, he will need some time to adjust to the European style of basketball”.
“I have been playing basketball professionally for the past four years and I am grateful for where this path has brought me so far – the words of JT Thor -. I am excited to start a new chapter in Europe and look forward to joining the Reggio Emilia family”.
