Rhyno Smith extends with Benetton Rugby

Rhyno Smith continues his adventure at Benetton Rugby. The green-and-white club announced the South African fullback’s contract renewal until June 30, 2028. Having become a symbol of the Lions in recent history, he extends his stay under the orders of the Treviso-based team for another two years.
“I had come to Treviso with the desire to have a different experience than the one I had had in South Africa – Rhyno said after the renewal -. I wanted to play in a new way and, most importantly, meet interesting people, immersing myself in a different culture along the way. I never imagined I would find a new home here-a place far away from where I grew up, but one that has become a part of me because of the many memories I will carry forever. On and off the court, in Treviso I found an environment where I could play without fear, have fun and rediscover my passion for the sport. It made me rediscover that competitiveness that, for a time, I thought I had lost”.
“I thank the club, president Amerino Zatta, general manager Antonio Pavanello, the fans and, above all, my teammates for the trust they have given me over the years. Staying here was the easiest choice of my career. I believe with all my heart that the best is yet to come” concluded the South African.
“We are extremely happy to announce the renewal of Rhyno Smith – the words of general manager Antonio Pavanello -, a player with unquestionable technical and human qualities. Rhyno is now a symbol of our club: he represents the values, dedication and spirit that distinguish Benetton Rugby. On and off the field, he is an example for teammates and young athletes, an exemplary professional who perfectly embodies the identity of our team. His recent call-up with the Barbarians, for the second time, is a well-deserved recognition of his value and the work he has done over the years. On behalf of the entire society, we congratulate him and are proud to be able to continue to share this journey” with him.
