Milan-Cortina 2026, Diana Bianchedi to Sportal.it: "Volunteers are the'soul of the Games"

There was also Diana Bianchedi, among the special guests at the “Volunteers and Workforce Uniforms Unveiling” by Salomon, Premium Partner of the Organizing Committee, an evening held at the event space of the former Porta Genova railway warehouse in Milan to present the uniforms that will be worn at Milan-Cortina 2026 by volunteers and operational staff. The former Italian blue foilist, Chief Strategy Planning & Legacy Officer of the Games that will kick off next Feb. 6, spoke on the sidelines of the event to Sportal.it microphones, stressing precisely the importance of volunteers for an event of this magnitude.
“The volunteer is the element that gives something extra to the’event, that enriches it – Bianchedi explained.
I talked to a lot of volunteers last year at the Paris Olympic Games and I understood from their words how meaningful it was for all of them to allocate their time and strength to a sporting event together with people they did not know. They are the’soul of the Games”.
Another added value for the volunteers themselves is represented, as the Olympic team champion at Barcelona 1992 and Sydney 2000 said again, precisely by the fact that they wear a specific uniform: “The presence of volunteers in the same uniform will help create additional atmosphere, seeing them live already today was certainly exciting”.
“Today I felt like when I was leaving, as an athlete, for a big event: the same uniforms, the responsibility of representing the’excellence of one’s country. This will be the same for the volunteers, I feel we are getting closer and closer. The countdown in Milan, Cortina and throughout Italy continues, we are just over eighty days from the’start and we can’t wait”.
