Winter sports in schools: presented the tenth edition of the SCIvolare Project

To introduce younger people, particularly primary and secondary school students, to the world of winter sports: this is the goal of the SCIvolare Project, now in its 10th edition this year. The initiative, promoted by the Fisi Central Alps Regional Committee in cooperation with the Lombardy Region, Sanofi, the Lombardy Regional School Office and Ski’n Lombardy, was presented Wednesday in the press room of Palazzo Lombardia in Milan.
The presentation was attended by Federica Picchi, Undersecretary with responsibility for Sport and Youth of the Lombardy Region, Gianfranco Zecchini, President of the Comitato Fisi Alpi Centrali, Marco Riva, President of Coni Lombardia, Claudia Giordani, Delegate of Coni Milano and Vice-President of Fisi Milano, Luciana Volta, Director General of the Regional School Office for Lombardy, Guidina Dal Sasso and Giorgio Madella, respectively responsible and referent of the project for the Comitato Alpi Centrali.
The SCIvolare Project is an educational program that includes classroom meetings on values and techniques and days on the snow, with the’aim of introducing and practicing disciplines such as skiing. The initiative, initiated by the Undersecretariat of the Presidency with responsibility for Sports and Youth, provides funding of 10 thousand euros to spread the sport of skiing in schools and support students through sports practice, in line with the policies of territorial and sports promotion in view of Milan-Cortina 2026.
“With this agreement, we want to transmit to young people the passion for sports and respect for the mountains – explained Federica Picchi -. SCIvolare is a project that combines education, health and environmental awareness, offering children a concrete experience of growth and training. Regione Lombardia supports an initiative that involves schools, families and federations in a common action, made of enthusiasm and participation. I thank Fisi Alpi Centrali, the Regional School Office and all the partners for their commitment and shared vision: making young people discover the beauty of sport and of our territories is the most beautiful challenge we can win together”.
“I thank Lombardy Region that has been following the growth of our young people for so long, sports and educational growth – said Gianfranco Zecchini -The SCIvolare Project has been active for ten years, last season we had more than 7 thousand children in schools where we bring winter disciplines, sports and health education, prevention to dangers and health. To involve the children we also have our coaches who personally bring their experience such as coach Michelangelo Tentori who tried to raise awareness among the children to talk about sports culture”.
Great satisfaction also expressed by Coni Lombardia, in the voice of its president Marco Riva: “I am honored to still be at this table for the promotion of the culture of Sport and the Values it represents. With the Committee there’s been a long-standing relationship of collaboration and this year we will be protagonists of a great event all together, the Olympics, which will see us all protagonists”.
