It will be Carlos Alcaraz who will contest Jannik Sinner’s last act at the ATP Finals in Turin. Despite the big cheer for the home favorite, however, the Piedmont crowd gave the Spaniard a’genuine standing ovation after his 6-2, 6-4 win in the semifinals over Felix Auger-Aliassime. Especially after the current world number 1 in tennis uttered a few words in Italian, praising his next opponent and now rival par excellence.

“I am very happy with today”s match, were the first words spoken by Alcaraz as soon as the Turin semifinal ended. Then the Spaniard went more into the merits of his victory over Auger-Aliassime: “My satisfaction after my performance today is very high. I was very solid and focused on getting the ball early and not leaving space for my opponent. Truly I did that throughout the match, and I am very happy because I will have to have a great match tomorrow”.

Always with a big smile on his lips, Alcaraz introduced the final against Sinner with a joke: “I hope that at least three or four people in the audience will cheer for me. Joking aside, I am really happy to face Jannik again in a final. I think the level of our contests is very high, always. We both push each other to bring out the best in each other. I will try to be very focused and put on my best tennis”.

“I know the audience will be cheering all for Jannik. It seems obvious to me that they will. So plan A to beat him will have to be to be focused throughout the match. But I know he will play with the same approach and the same goal” added Alcaraz, ready to face for the sixth time during 2025 a rival like Sinner with whom, however, the respect was and remains absolute. So the’appointment to the Turin audience, once again in Italian: “See you tomorrow, thank you”.
