Napoli market, Matteo Politano goes down flat on his future

Calciomercato Napoli: Matteo Politano is enjoying his sixth season in the Azzurri (and a half, since he arrived in Campania from Inter in January 2020). His intention, however, is increasingly evidently not to change jersey for the rest of his career, with a very clear message to the club from him.
“I am Neapolitan by adoption, having married a woman from Naples. I have always been well here, it is my second home, my family from Rome comes often. We are very well here, then I do not know in time what will happen: I think about the present” said Politano in an interview granted to ‘Radio CRC’. A concept that, moreover, he had expressed in clear terms several months ago.
In the meantime, Napoli is expected to face a tricky challenge with Atalanta when the league resumes. On the upcoming Serie A engagement, Politano has clear ideas: “Between today and tomorrow the team will be back to full strength and I think together with the coach we will analyze the mistakes made in Bologna to move forward. The championship is still long and now we have a month of fire ahead of us: we have to reset everything and reason game by game. We need to see the best Napoli in every game: they are all challenges of the highest level. Atalanta is strong and has changed coach, so they will definitely come fierce: it will be a challenge to prepare well and to face in the best way”.
Between his Napoli’s commitments in Italy and in the Champions League, and also an increasingly central role in the national team, Politano is aware that fatigue is setting in these months. “Lately I play a very wasteful role – admitted the Roman striker -, so it happens that, playing every three days, I don’t always arrive at 100 percent. I am always happy to take the field and always try to give my best. Has Conte improved me? Absolutely yes, definitely in the spirit of sacrifice. Atalanta-Napoli last year was an important game for us, we gained a lot of self-confidence in ourselves: hopefully this game on Saturday can also relaunch us towards what we did last season”.
Not missing a reflection on the national team’s path in the difficult run-up to the 2026 World Cup. “It’s always a thrill to wear the Italy jersey: it’s an honor. It was a shame against Norway, because in the first half we dominated the field, while in the second half the intensity dropped and their qualities came out. Let’s wait for tomorrow’s draws, then we have to prepare as best we can to qualify for the World Cup: there’s no alternative, we have to face these two games to the fullest for all of Italy” said Politano.
