A short distance from the officialization of Italy&#8217s starting XV against Chile in the third and final round of the Quilter Nations Series for the Azzurri, coach Gonzalo Quesada spoke precisely about the Condores, for the first time ever opponents of the Azzurri in an official match Saturday night at the Luigi Ferraris Stadium in Genoa.

“They have a solid scrum and fast three-quarters – explained the Azzurri coach -They offer airy rugby, a lot of movement and little footwork. The first 20-30 minutes will be very hard: I know the South American mentality well. It was difficult to make more changes. First of all, because we respect Chile a lot: we know it will be a tough game. It will be a match to build step by step, doing things in order”.

“Changing so much would have meant risking – explained Quesada again, who kept five starters compared to the lineup that took the field with South Africa -: some players have not played for three weeks, the weekend in Verona, the weekend with Australia and the weekend with South Africa, and deploying them all together could have led us to difficulties in the final. That is why we found a balance between who starts and who finishes the game”.

Saturday&#8217s match will be the last Test match of 2025 for the men&#8217s national rugby team, which in the ten matches played so far between the Six Nations, summer Tests and Quilter Nations Series, have found three wins (against Wales in February, Namibia in the summer and against Australia in early November) against seven losses against Scotland, France, England, Ireland and, three times, South Africa.
