Fear in Davis Cup final, play interrupted due to illness

The match between Flavio Cobolli and Jaume Munar was suspended in the early stages of the second set due to a spectator in the stands falling ill. The chair judge then stopped the second singles match of the Davis Cup final between Italy and Spain, with the Azzurri ahead 1-0 on Bologna’s indoor concrete thanks to Matteo Berrettini’s earlier win over Pablo Carreno Busta.
At the time of the break, the match was leaning sharply on the side of the Iberian, ahead 6-1, 1-0 and 40-A. After breaching Cobolli moments earlier, however, Munar found himself having to cancel a break ball, with the Italian determined to get back into the match to try to extend the challenge to the third set.
At the stop that occurred at 17:52, the Majorcan protested to the chair judge (“Right on the break?”). An inelegant reaction considering the gravity of the situation, although in all probability the player did not fully understand what was happening. Help was immediate and after eight minutes he was able to return to play.
At the resumption, Munar cancelled the break ball, but Cobolli still managed to get two more, finally making the counterbreak. The updated score is 1-6, 1-1 with service to the Italian.
