Inter, Cristian Chivu goes down flat on Sommer and Lautaro Martinez

Inter defeated by AC Milan in the derby della Madonnina, and there are many aspects on which Cristian Chivu is called to shed light in the aftermath of the San Siro match. One of them undoubtedly concerns the decision to recall Lautaro Martinez to the bench after a little more than an hour of play, but in the eye of the storm also ends up Yann Sommer for a decisive levity in the game-winning goal scored by Christian Pulisic.
“There isn’t a single culprit for this defeat – Chivu told ‘DAZN’ teased about Sommer’s responsibility -. And I never want to point the finger at anyone, because when it happens it means that there’s a smell of failure around. You will never hear me go on individuals or make such analyses, also because I know what we create and what risks we take at the team level. And Inter could have handled the key moments of the match better”.
“To be saved are our performance and the’attention we put on the field– continued Chivu -, as well as the several chances we were able to create. Milan only had one and scored, but that is how soccer works. We tried in every way, and on the field I saw the spirit I want. Then to have lost four times in 12 days is too much, this is normal. But the standings remain short, and we have to be good at handling frustration. Losing like this can leave some marks, and we have a duty to pick ourselves up because on Wednesday we have another very important game to play”.
More piquant response on the reasons for the change of Lautaro Martinez, replaced at 66′ by Bonny. “He is fine, but I cannot change my players? The choice was mine and it is technical. Even guys who are on the bench like Bonny or Esposito deserve to make their own contribution to’Inter”, Chivu cut it short.
