A new team for Fernando Gaviria

One of the world’s most awarded sprinters will be part of the Caja Rural-Seguros RGA team next season. Colombian Fernando Gaviria arrives in the Spanish lineup after collecting more than fifty victories as a professional and having shined in the major stage races on the calendar.
For the class of 1994, a full decade in some of the top WorldTour teams in the peloton, with which he won two stages of the Tour de France and five of the Giro d’Italia, where he also wore the cyclamen jersey.
Gaviria thus becomes a key part of the green team, where he will start in the role of sprinter along with Portuguese Iúri Leitão. Together they will give visibility to the team in the many sprints that punctuate the various races on the Caja Rural-Seguros RGA calendar, seeking to add victories and get as many UCI points as possible, a key goal to remain among the teams with chances to participate in the grand tours each year.
Likewise, the South American sprinter will bring all the experience he has gained in his career to a group where more than half of the riders are under 25. With still a lot of cycling ahead of him, despite a difficult season behind him, Gaviria is confident of achieving his own goals and those of Caja Rural-Seguros RGA in a 2026 full of new challenges.
“What motivated me most to join Caja Rural-Seguros RGA was the conversation I had with them, in which I sensed a great enthusiasm for my arrival. It seemed like a very interesting opportunity and I trust that I will give my best – said Gaviria -For next season, my goal is to work well, help the team in everything I can and try to get wins. Running a grand tour would be special and, in the case of the Vuelta a España, being able to fight to complete the hat trick of victories in grand tours would be really exciting”.
