Champions League 2025-2026: Ajax-Benfica, the likely lineups

The Champions League is back. At 6:45 p.m., Ajax-Benfica, a match valid for the fifth day of the regular season, is scheduled. The only two teams still without a single point face each other. In four matches played, both Ajax and Benfica have always lost.

The Lancers are coming off seven straight defeats and recently exonerated Heitinga, handing the bench (momentarily) to Grim. On the other hand, not even Mourinho&#8217s arrival has lifted the team, at least in the Champions League.

Ajax will go for a 4-3-3 with, in attack, the trident formed by Godts, Weghorst and Gloukh. On the other side, the Special One is expected to rely on 4-2-3-1 with Schjelderup, Leandro Barreiro and Sudakov behind the striker Pavlidis (unavailable Bah, Bruma and Lukebakio).
