Federica Brignone: "I feel like I never stopped skiing but there is still a lot to do"

The website of the Italian Winter Sports Federation published Federica Brignone’s first words after her return to skiing made yesterday in Breuil-Cervinia 237 days after her terrible injury in the giant slalom at the Italian absolute championships in Val di Fassa in early April.
“It was a perfect day to go skiing, with wintry conditions and close to home – Federica said. “I’m very happy to have put the skis back on, there are many positive things but there is still a lot to do. Let’s say it’s a first taste, not an arrival point but a starting point.”
“At the beginning I was a little bit plastered, lap after lap I found a good feeling, it felt like I never stopped skiing, I felt my leg reacting, the contact with the snow and sliding was a good feeling. It’s something good to be back on my tool at this point, after almost eight months, even though we know we have to grow further.”
“In a few days we’ll be back on the slope again to explore, skiing is a whole different thing than working in the gym, especially considering the angles, twists and pressures we need to ski at a high level, we’ll try to go hand in hand with athletic preparation.”
