Qatar GP, Lando Norris flaunts calmness

British McLaren driver standings leader Lando Norris flaunts calmness on the eve of the three-day Qatar Grand Prix, the penultimate round of the F1 world championship at the Lusail circuit, which includes, in addition to Sunday’s long race, a sprint on Saturday.
“I feel as relaxed as when I was 35 points behind. This is my strength,” said Norris, who is leading by 24 points over teammate Oscar Piatri and Red Bull world champion Max Verstappen, who wants to complete a legendary comeback, at a press conference.
“I don’t see any mind games – Lando continued -. I’m not on social media, I don’t read anything. If they want to waste energy, let them do it. If it is more dangerous Piastri or Verstappen? For me they are equal. Max is capable of anything, but Oscar can do exactly the same things. They are both incredible drivers, and I am ready to play with both of them”.
“Has the gap narrowed from 42 points to 24? For me the gap is the same: it was 24 and it is still 24. It doesn’t change anything. We were fast in Vegas and would have been even faster without the problems. Red Bull is in good shape, but we have always treated them as great rivals, nothing more”.
“In a way you can say that we didn“t take enough risks regarding the setup. I am almost more excited about this weekend, because I know we will have more performance,” Norris concluded.
