Carlo Verdone cheers Sinner but gives a part to Alcaraz

As amicable as it may be taking into consideration the relationship between the two, the rivalry between Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz continues to be the subject of intense debate.
To insert himself in this sense, even a big name of Italian cinema such as Carlo Verdone, who, on the sidelines of the presentation of his new engagement as actor and director, also spoke about the two contemporary tennis champions, emphasizing his own passion for tennis. The premise on Verdone’s part is related to cheering (“When they play, I cheer for Jannik” he said), but there is no lack of his attestation of esteem for the Murcian.
“It could be fun to have Alcaraz in one of my movies or series– he told reporters -He has a ‘kid’face, he could play the fun and dynamic friend of the group. He arouses great empathy also, because he always has a smile on his face”. Different, however, is Sinner’s impact on the screens: “We are of course talking about a great player– specified Verdone -. He makes no mistakes and his shots are perfect, as if commanded by a joystick. Sinner is robotic programming but you absolutely cannot tell him anything: he is a champion, and when the two are on the court there’s no doubt, I root for Sinner”.
The rivalry between Sinner and Alcaraz, already strong before 2025, developed further in a season that saw them against each other in as many as six finals: the Murcian got the better of them four times, winning at the Internazionali d’Italia in Rome, Roland Garros, the Cincinnati Masters 1000 (a match in which Sinner had withdrawn due to a physical problem during the first set) and the US Open, while the’from Alto Adige managed to prevail in a historic final at Wimbledon, giving the first success to Italian tennis in the world’s most prestigious grass tournament, and at the very recent ATP Finals, where at the end of a fair fight Sinner won 7-6(4), 7-5.
