Itas Trentino, third-place hit at Assago Forum

The month of November ends with a very precious and peremptory victory at the Unipol Forum in Assago for Itas Trentino men’s team. In front of 7,635 spectators, the Italian Champion lineup in fact secured the three points at stake in the big match of the eighth round of the regular season SuperLega Credem Banca, imposing the first home stop of the season on Allianz Milano. A success, the fourth consecutive, important above all to strengthen its third position in the standings and continue the race for the best possible placement at the end of the first round, also in function of the Italian Cup quarterfinal grid.
Thanks to today’s 3-0 win, achieved with personality and determination, Mendez’s team fends off Civitanova’s overtaking attempt on the eve of three league games in ten days (at home with Modena and Piacenza, away to Porto San Giorgio) that will close the first leg. Tonight’s affirmation came at the end of a convincing performance, the result of an excellent approach to every single set and of the great work done at the wall on Reggers, the main opponent offensive terminal stopped directly eight times. Securing the promising advantages acquired already in the first half of all the fractions were the ball changes guaranteed by the centerbacks (Bartha 83% and Flavio 70%), the effectiveness in the rebuilt phase of Ramon and Michieletto (25 points in two) and the positive relay between Faure and Ramon in the opposite role, which did not take away confidence from Sbertoli, deservedly mvp in his hometown.
“It was a good match especially in the fundamental of the wall and in the correlation with the defense, fundamentals that made the difference in our favor along with the attack that has become a constant at this stage of the season,” explained Itas Trentino coach Marcelo Mendez – after the match.
