Domenico Berardi injury, exam results leave no doubt: 2025 is over

Sassuolo will have to end the calendar year without one of its most representative men, Domenico Berardi. The striker, who came out battered at the beginning of the second half during the match lost by the neroverdi in Domo on Friday night, underwent instrumental examinations that confirmed the fears of the eve: there’s injury, it will be necessary to stop for a few weeks, the return certainly slips to 2026. The Emilia club released the results of the exams on Monday, specifying that the player has already begun the rehabilitation process to try to return as soon as possible. Berardi, 31 years old last Aug. 1, had come off at 6′ of the second half against Como, making way for Volpato.
“Instrumental examinations carried out on Domenico Berardi, following the injury suffered during the Como-Sassuolo match, showed a medium-degree injury of the right leg flexor muscle. The player has already started the rehabilitation process” explained the neroverde club in the note released on its channels. Berardi had missed just three games this season: against Como on Sept. 24 in the Coppa Italia and was not called up for the away match, against Hellas Verona on Oct. 3 and against Cagliari on Oct. 30 of the same month due to a slight injury, always returning as a starter in the next match.
The player has already started the rehabilitation process.
The one Domenico Berardi is playing this year is season number fourteen as a senior, without ever moving from Sassuolo, with which he shared the historic promotion to the A league in 2013, the qualification to the Europa League, a competition played in 2016-2017 with as many as five goals in four matches, continuing on to the’bitter season of the fall in the cadet division (2023-2024, a year marked by a serious Achilles tendon injury) and the subsequent “sporting redemption” with a return to the top division after dominating the league. Berardi, during his experience, also collected 28 appearances and 8 goals, also playing in the victorious European Championships won by Italy in the summer of 2021.
