Inter market, defender arrives from Germany at a bargain price

For some time now, Inter have been looking for a new defender to shore up the defensive department at Cristian Chivu’s disposal. At the end of the season, the Nerazzurri will in all likelihood say goodbye to Francesco Acerbi and Stefan de Vrij and will therefore have to return to the market to buy a top defender. Also among the special observers is Nico Schlotterbeck, who is very doubtful about renewing his contract with Borussia Dortmund. At the moment, the German has an agreement with the yellow-and-white club until 2027 and is looking around for alternatives to staying at Borussia Dortmund.

The yellow and black club, for its part, has already presented a’renewal offer to Nico Schlotterbeck with a substantial salary increase but it seems that it was not enough to convince the defender. Beppe Marotta is monitoring the situation with great interest but clearly Inter is not the only club on the German&#8217s trail: there is also Bayern Munich, which could lose Dayot Upamecano in June. The Frenchman’s contract is expiring and the temptation to move to Xabi Alonso’s Real Madrid is strong, as is the temptation to experience Ligue 1 with Paris Saint Germain. Bayern Munich is cautiously optimistic but Schlotterbeck remains on the Bavarian club&#8217s notebook.

In the summer Inter will also have to intervene in the role of goalkeeper: Yann Sommer is expiring his contract and will not stay in Milan and Josep Martinez, at the moment, does not seem to give the right guarantees to become the heir of the current Swiss number one. A different profile would be sought, one that is already ready for a role that is certainly not easy. Among the many papabili there would be, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the name of Guglielmo Vicario, currently with Thomas Franck’s Tottenham. The former, among others, of Empoli and Cagliari, is not going through a very good moment in London and the homesickness is great.

Attention also to the’Elia Caprile hypothesis of Cagliari. The islanders’extreme defender is shining with the Rossoblù shirt and his value is clearly growing: on his tracks there’s also Milan, struggling with the very complicated contract renewal of Mike Maignan. Also on Beppe Marotta and Piero Ausilio’s notebook is the name of Zion Suzuki, Parma’s Japanese star now in the box due to injury. The Japanese extreme defender suffered a fracture in his hand and will not be seen on the field until at least the end of February. Raised in the Urawa Reds, Suzuki also played in Belgium at VV Sint-Truiden before landing in Italy in the summer of 2024.
