The Beaver Creek stage, the second atta of the U.S. Men’s World Cup trip to the Colorado snows after Copper Mountain, kicks off tonight with the first of two timed runs at 7 p.m. Italian time. Snowfall in recent days and falling temperatures prompted FIS to revert to the original schedule on the Birds of Prey, with two downhill runs on Thursday 4 (which was initially cancelled) and Friday 5, followed by the super-G on Saturday and the giant slope on Sunday. On this slope, which has hosted two World Cup editions, 24 downhill, 22 superG and 18 World Cup giants have been held.

Sofia Goggia was the big star of Fisi’s Media Day.

The'former Olympic champion spoke ahead of Milan-Cortina.

"The World Cup I’ve been competing steadily since 2015-2016, so exactly ten seasons".
"o I’m fine, I worked well this summer, however I had a very good season last year, solid and also with the little preparation that managed to do because of the foot.”
"In the spring I exploited so much the winter conditions present in our mountains, the summer still started from a good physical base and the preparation on skis even in the South American block went well.”
"In my opinion we should not think about the seasons with the rainbow events, with a different conception than the others".
"You have to, in my opinion, get off to a good start, test yourself in the World Cup, be able to figure out what level you are at, calibrate your shot where there are things to fine-tune".
"But the secret that Federica taught us last year is to ski every weekend strong; so, my goal is to be 100 percent on snow every day".
"I’m focused on what I have to do, without big expectations, but step by step.”
Federica Brignone meanwhile is continuing her rehabilitation.
The dream is to succeed for the Olympics.
It will be hard but dreaming costs nothing.

South Tyrolean Florian Schieder will be the first to report to the starting gate in today’s event, and there will be nine other Azzurri: Dominik Paris (who will have the number 12), Mattia Casse (21), Guglielmo Bosca (34), Christof Innerhofer (39), Benjamin Alliod (43), Nicolò Molteni (48), Giovanni Franzoni (52), Max Perathoner (60) and Marco Abbruzzese (69). For Bosca, there will be a chance to measure himself on the Birds of Prey after breaking the ice with an excellent eighth place in the Copper Mountain SuperG, returning from a long stop after the fibula fracture suffered in the very test in Beaver Creek twelve months ago.

“I’m very proud of myself, coming back like this on the comeback was not a given, and I think the result at Copper Mountain was kind of a nice touch on my part,” said the 32-year-old from Valle d’Aosta, who was second in the super-G in Garmisch-Partenkirchen on Jan. 27, 2024, his only World Cup podium finish. “I’m very happy with my performance, it was since March 2024 that I hadn’t shown up at the gate and finding the race rhythm right away was not easy. There’s an awareness in me that I’m not at the level I was a year ago: in the fall of 2024 in training here in the States I was literally flying, I was fine.”

“In this preparation I’ve struggled quite a bit, I haven’t been able to do just everything that was planned, and I’m still lacking miles and a bit of confidence: if you don’t feel great, pushing hard is not easy. An afterthought tells me that if I could have put the best version of myself on the track, an even better result would have come out of it, but I certainly can’t speak of regret. Now comes the Beaver Creek stage, I need to get my confidence and trust back and tell myself that I have to be patient and that I can’t get back to where I was right away. I’m excited to go back to Beaver Creek and tackle the Birds Of Prey: let’s see how it goes.”
