Jannik Sinner-Carlos Alcaraz, Bjorn Borg’s words ignite fans

The season of top-level tennis is now over and the racquet players are recharging their batteries ahead of a 2026 that promises to be extremely intense.
At the top of the debate this off-season, predictably, is the rivalry between Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz, which saw the Murcian win four of six head-to-head finals in 2025 with the Alto Adige native, who, however, had the last word at the ATP Finals, winning in front of the Turin crowd. Taking a stand on the two athletes who are dominating the circuit is one of the great names of the past, former Swedish tennis player Bjorn Borg.
“The rivalry between Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz is the best thing that could have happened to tennis– said, in no uncertain terms, the winner of eleven Grand Slam tournaments, interviewed by the Spanish portal Marca -. I don’t miss any of the matches that they play one against the other. It will be interesting to see how they will share the big titles next season”. Borg, then, was asked to choose his favorite: “I think Jannik is a champion and, of the two, the more aggressive, but if I really have to choose I say Carlos because of the sensitivity in touch” said the Swede, who as non-player captain of Europe, with Alcaraz on the team, won the Laver Cup in 2024.
Borg’s words predictably fuel debate among admirers of the two contemporary tennis champions between those who agree with the Swede and those, on the other hand, who point out that even in the South Tyrolean’s game, touch sensitivity is certainly not lacking. Sinner and Alcaraz, however, have already shown on several occasions that they can limit rivalry talk to the court, expressing friendship and mutual esteem on numerous occasions. The next challenge could come precisely in a Slam tournament: in Australia the two will be on opposite sides of the scoreboard and could face each other in another final, confirming (as the rankings already do today) that they have no rivals.
