L’former MotoGP and SBK rider Sylvain Guintoli in an interview with Crash.net analyzed the nightmarish season of Ducati centaur Pecco Bagnaia, who after starting 2025 with high title ambitions experienced the worst year of his career, finishing fifth overall despite having the best bike on the grid. “I have to admit that Pecco&#8217s story this year was hard to watch, at least for me. It was clearly seen that he had great difficulties, and it was not good to see him like that on the track, because Pecco in truth is a fantastic rider”.

Pecco Bagnaia ended his season in the worst way.
Another retirement and goodbye podium in the world championship.

There is talk of a possible farewell to Ducati but the Turinese has been clear.

"I want to continue with Ducati, it is my ambition. I would like to finish my career with them"
"The race lasted 25 seconds and I had managed to pass 6, so I was quite happy until there".
"After fortunately I realized that a white thunderbolt was coming and I was able to pull the bike up".
"In the first round everyone is quite aggressive, so much so that I had passed 6 and it is a normal thing".
"There the braking point was a little bit' optimistic but these are things that can happen".
"Surely you arrive at the end of the season, in a season like this where things have gone so especially in the last part, you arrive tired, exhausted".

The French rider went on to explain what didn&#8217t work with the Ducati 2025: “The feeling on the front is everything, especially with the current specifications of MotoGP bikes. You have to be able to feel that sensation and stop the bike efficiently, without shifting the load to the front on corner entry. If you feel it you are fluid and maintain speed in the corners, everything is connected. There are centaurs who are more affected by the feeling, others less, and some have to feel 100 percent to perform at their best”. Guintoli explains that “the feeling is felt from the wrists, it is a strange feeling and you want to be in full control when you are on the limit”.

“This feeling can affect you, it can get into your head– stressed Guintoli -I believe that in 2026 he will be back, he had to hit the bottom before he got back on his feet. The Motegi episode was a bit’strange, on that occasion he instead dominated”. Michele Pirro also spoke about Bagnaia to Corsedimoto: The goal for 2026 is to make him as competitive and fast as he has been on a few occasions this year. He still showed that he has not forgotten how to ride a motorcycle. We are sportsmen and there can be some years, some seasons that are a bit complicated. I am convinced that by working, having a good winter, good tests he can regain competitiveness”.

On approaching rivals: “It&#8217s clear that this year the others have come closer as it&#8217s right because all the regulations, and all the various things have been done to penalize Ducati a little bit’ the Ducati and bring the others closer. The first two bikes in the overall standings, however, are still Ducati”.
