On the sidelines of another difficult day in the Premier League (3-3 against Leeds after being ahead 2-0 and 3-2), Liverpool has to deal with Mohamed Salah&#8217s very harsh outburst: the Egyptian striker, in the last three games, played only the first half against Sunderland, remaining on the bench for the entire ninety minutes in both the previous game against West Ham and Saturday&#8217s game at Elland Road. Talking to reporters in the mixed zone, Salah expressed all his disappointment at a treatment that was in his view unfair, explicitly pointing out that he has no affinity with the Reds coach, Arne Slot.

“I could not believe that I had to stay on the bench all the time – said Salah -This is not the first time this has happened to me, in my career it had never happened to me. I have given so much to this club and now I feel I have been dumped, there are those who blame me that I don&#8217t feel I have. More promises were made to me in the summer, everything has changed. Slot? I had a good connection, now we are at zero: I think he does not want me here anymore. I love Liverpool, I am a fan as well as a footballer: now, however, the only certainty I have for the future is that I will be at the African Cup of Nations, for the rest I don&#8217t know what will happen in the next few days”.

“What is certain – added the Egyptian national team star again – is that I cannot accept this situation. Since I arrived in the Premier League I have scored more goals and made more assists than anyone, I may not be the best ever but what I have achieved I have earned. I do not have to prove anything, I deserve respect”. Words, those of Momo Salah, that sound like the preannouncement of a farewell, perhaps already in the winter market. The Egyptian’s contract expires in June 2027 and it is difficult for the club to agree to a termination of the deal, letting Salah leave at zero.

Salah, who turned 33 last June 15, has been at Liverpool since 2017: the Reds bought him for about 50 million, including bonuses, from Roma, with whom he had played two seasons. In his career, the Egyptian has also worn the jerseys of Al-Mokawloon, Basel, Chelsea and Fiorentina.
