Roma market, Ferguson at the end of the line: farewell certain and new forward on the way

Ferguson&#8217s adventure with the Roma shirt could end much sooner than expected. The Irish striker has not convinced and, barring second thoughts, could pack his bags in January. Arrived, last summer, on loan from Brighton, the 2004-born forward has failed to make a difference on the pitch. To date, he has scored only one goal. Too little to convince the Giallorossi club to continue betting on him for the rest of the season.

At this point, it is likely that, during the January market, Ferguson will return to the ranks of Brighton or, at any rate, stop wearing the yellow and red jersey. In short, the Irish forward’s future seems marked. Gasperini expects a major reinforcement to improve the offensive department. Ferguson’s farewell would allow the Giallorossi club to move more calmly in the market and thus find the right man to whom to entrust the attack.

At the moment, in pole position would always be Zirkzee. By physical characteristics, the’former Bologna striker seems perfect for Gasperini’s game. Obviously, there’s to find an understanding with Manchester United, which has no intention of letting him leave by losing too much. The Dutchman, always on the sidelines of the Red Devils project, would be well willing to make a change of scenery and relaunch himself, also with a view to the 2026 World Cup.

Alternatively, attention to Scamacca. The Dea striker is well known to Gasperini. The current Roma coach knows him very well and knows what he can give. Scamacca would have a golden chance to measure himself in an important and warm-hearted square. Clearly, it has to be understood whether or not Atalanta will be willing to give up its center forward to a direct competitor for Europe. Much will also depend on the offer that the Giallorossi will put on the plate.
