Pedro Sánchez is L’Espresso’s Person of the Year 2025.

The Espresso has named Pedro Sánchez, president of the Spanish government, Person of the Year 2025. During a lengthy interview with the weekly magazine’s editor-in-chief, Emilio Carelli, he touched on a variety of topics.

“The opening of the Winter Olympic Games in Italy is near. Is it hypocritical, in your opinion, not to sanction Israel and its athletes with the same bans imposed on Russian athletes? ” he was asked, among other things. “I would say it is inconsistent. With Russia we did it, and right away, why is it not done with Israel? I disagree with the position of the International Olympic Committee” the politician’s response.

“Spain, today, accounts for 40 percent of the total growth of the Eurozone’area. We have more than 22 million people employed, a number never reached in the history of our country. I believe Spain’s success represents a total defeat of the neoliberal ideologies predominant in many European and Western governments” Sanchez added, among other things.
