Antonio Pavanello picks up the baton at the helm of Benetton Rugby: the former green-and-white captain and longtime executive was named the new president of the Treviso-based club by the shareholders’ meeting held on Tuesday. Joining him on the board of directors are Christian Benetton and Massimo Fava.

“The appointment, indicated by Edizione as the sole shareholder of Benetton Rugby, demonstrates the desire to focus on a figure with a deep historicity in the club, capable of representing a solid link between the present and future evolution– reads the note released by Benetton Rugby -A profile capable of guiding the team’s growth path by pursuing new projects, with the aim of consolidating its competitiveness in Italy and on international stages”.

Pavanello, already general manager since 2021, thus assumes the leadership of the Treviso club, bringing with him a path matured both as a player and as a manager. On the field, he wore the Benetton jersey from 2005 to 2015, winning four Italian championships and collecting 23 appearances with the national team. After retiring, he held the roles of sports director and general manager, handling technical and administrative management, as well as relations with rugby institutions.

The appointment comes after the long presidency of Amerino Zatta, whom the club thanked for his work. With the new arrangement, Benetton Rugby is preparing to face the challenges of the next phase: the green-and-white Lions are currently engaged in the URC’URC and the European Challenge Cup.
