Gianluigi Donnarumma has been awarded the Best Fifa Award 2025 as the best goalkeeper of the year. The Azzurri and Manchester City goalkeeper symbolically received the award from Fifa president Gianni Infantino through a message on Instagram.

“Donnarumma is the first Italian to win this title since Gianluigi Buffon in 2017, proving that he is a worthy successor” it is recalled. “It is a real honor to receive this award. I am very happy and I hope to do even more” Gigio commented.

Donnarumma had finished second in this special award in 2021 behind the Senegalese then at Chelsea Edouard Mendy. Before moving last summer to Manchester City, he played for six seasons at AC Milan and four at Paris Saint-Germain, with whom he won the last Champions League.

With the Parisians he also won four French championships, two Cups and three national Super Cups. In 2021, he was continental champion with the Italian national team at Euro 2020.
