Ferrari, Charles Leclerc unveils biggest disappointment of 2025

Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc in an interview with L’Equipe made a stark assessment of the Cavallino’s difficult 2025, which closed without victories in the world championship. The ambitions of the beginning of the year faded very early: “The year was not easy. Last year we were fighting for the constructors’ title and hoped to repeat that experience. Unfortunately, from the very first race we realized that McLaren was going to be very strong. To be satisfied when fighting for a fourth, fifth or sixth place is difficult and painful”.
Leclerc singled out the time of the year when he felt the most disappointment: “The potential win in Hungary where I started from pole hurt me less than the missed pole position in Monaco. But when I look at how we have worked over the past few years, it is clear that we have grown tremendously as a team and we will take a lot of things with us to the next championship” said the Monegasque driver, who always tries to see the glass half full ahead of 2026, which could be his last year in Maranello.
“Ferrari remains the team I have always loved and love even more. The podiums have helped me stay positive, but they are not enough. They have pushed me to stay focused and motivated”. The driver from the Principality to Autosport also commented on the difficulties of teammate Lewis Hamilton: “It is definitely a long process whenever you join a new team. I mean, I don’t even remember what it means to join a new team. I’ve been with Ferrari for eight years. So I know how it works. And of course it all feels very natural. But for Lewis, it is still new even after one year”.
“The processes are completely different, the way you have the vision, the team, the way you work. So it still takes some time to get used to all this” explained the Monegasque. “Help him? There are already so many things I am focused on for myself and for the team…”
“It is obviously difficult for me to devote time to help Hamilton as well. And then Lewis has achieved much more than I ever have. I really have no advice to give him”.
